Care staff for services in Glasgow

We recruit care and support staff for care homes, care at home, housing support and supported living services in Glasgow, for temporary cover and permanent posts.

Glasgow is in Scotland, so care work here follows Scottish rules: the Care Inspectorate registers services, the SSSC registers the workforce, and PVG scheme membership replaces the DBS check.

Who regulates care in Glasgow

Care services in Glasgow are registered with the Care Inspectorate, and almost all managers and staff in those services must register with the Scottish Social Services Council, usually within six months of starting. We check where each worker is with their registration before we offer them.

PVG scheme membership is a legal requirement for regulated roles, and an agency must confirm it before supplying anyone for one. Since 1 April 2026, membership lasts five years. The Scottish Government is waiving the PVG fee for eligible social care workers who apply between 1 August 2026 and 31 July 2027.

Care services in Glasgow

Community health and social care in the city are planned and delivered by the Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership, directed by the Glasgow City Integration Joint Board, which brings together Glasgow City Council and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, the largest NHS organisation in Scotland.

The partnership’s workforce plan for 2025 to 2028 counts a care staff group of around 3,900 people in care at home and care homes, and describes home care as its largest front-line service, with recruitment campaigns attracting an average of 250 applicants per advert. It also runs a programme with Glasgow Clyde College that offers guaranteed interviews for current vacancies.

The Glasgow Subway runs from 06:30 to 23:40 Monday to Saturday, but only from 10:00 to 18:12 on Sundays, so staff working early or late on a Sunday need another way to travel.

The partnership also sponsors Skilled Worker visas: its workforce plan records over 130 social work employees and 98 health employees sponsored across the partnership.

Questions from managers in Glasgow

Do your workers have PVG membership?

Yes. PVG membership is a legal requirement for regulated roles, and we confirm it before supplying anyone. Eligible social care workers who apply between 1 August 2026 and 31 July 2027 do not pay the PVG fee.

Can you supply agency nurses in Glasgow?

Supplying temporary nurses in Scotland requires registration as a nurse agency with the Care Inspectorate, so call us before you book to hear what we can offer. We recruit permanent nurses for Glasgow services.

Do Glasgow care workers need SSSC registration before they start?

Workers must apply for SSSC registration within six months of starting in the role, and employing someone past that point without registration is an offence. We check where each worker is with their registration before we offer them.
