Care staff for services in Norfolk

We recruit care and support staff for care homes, nursing homes, home care and supported living across Norfolk, from Norwich to King’s Lynn and Great Yarmouth.

Norfolk has no motorway, and many people who need care live in rural or coastal places, so getting staff to the door is often the hardest part of filling a rota.

Who regulates care in Norfolk

Norfolk care services are registered with the Care Quality Commission, and children’s homes with Ofsted. For every worker we put forward in Norfolk, we check identity and right to work, an enhanced DBS check with the barred list the role needs, and references from recent care work.

Because so much Norfolk home care depends on a car, we check drivers’ licences and their insurance that covers driving for work before the first run.

Care regulator
Care Quality Commission (CQC) for adult social care. Ofsted registers and inspects children’s homes.
Criminal record checks
Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Care roles are usually checked at enhanced level, with the adults’ or children’s barred list where the work is regulated activity.
Workforce register
No national register for care workers. Nurses are on the NMC register, and social workers must be registered with Social Work England.
Council
  • Norfolk County Council
NHS integrated care board
  • NHS Norfolk and Suffolk Integrated Care Board
  • Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group

Care services in Norfolk

According to the government’s devolution consultation, there are no motorways in Norfolk or Suffolk, and Norfolk has just two strategic trunk roads, the A11 and the A47, of which only one is fully dualled. NHS Norfolk and Suffolk says around half of residents across the two counties live in rural or coastal areas, where access to services can be more challenging.

NHS Norfolk and Suffolk Integrated Care Board was set up on 1 April 2026, replacing NHS Norfolk and Waveney and NHS Suffolk and North East Essex, and covers about 1.7 million people. In Norfolk it works through three places run by alliances: West Norfolk, Great Yarmouth and Waveney, and Central Norfolk. The Norfolk and Norwich, Queen Elizabeth and James Paget hospitals work together as the Norfolk and Waveney University Hospitals Group.

Skills for Care estimated that 28 per cent of Norfolk’s care workforce was aged 55 or over in 2024/25, which means approximately 7,000 posts will reach retirement age in the next ten years. A March 2026 decision to create three unitary councils was withdrawn in September 2026, so Norfolk County Council remains responsible for social care.

The CQC’s assessment of Norfolk County Council, published in December 2025, found people were more likely to wait for home care in the north and south of the county, with challenges in some districts from rurality or from sustaining the provider workforce. The council pays for providers to use the Care Friends recruitment and retention app, and runs recruitment events.

Questions from managers in Norfolk

Can you cover a rural home care run in north Norfolk?

Yes, with drivers who live within reach of the run. With no motorway and long distances between villages, we plan runs with you so that the travel time is realistic and paid.

Do you cover Great Yarmouth and King’s Lynn?

Yes. Tell us the service and the shifts, and we look for workers who live nearby.

Where in Norfolk is home care hardest to arrange?

The CQC’s 2025 assessment found people were more likely to wait for home care in the north and south of the county, where rurality and sustaining the workforce are the main challenges. For runs there, we look first for drivers who live locally.
