Care staff for services in Sheffield
We recruit care and support staff for care homes, nursing homes, home care and supported living across Sheffield, for temporary cover and permanent posts.
Sheffield has reorganised its home care around places to cut travel, and its nursing homes have been under strain, so both shape the cover services ask us for.
Who regulates care in Sheffield
Sheffield care services are registered with the Care Quality Commission, and children’s homes with Ofsted. Every worker we put forward in Sheffield has had identity and right to work checked, an enhanced DBS check with the barred list the role needs, and references from recent care work.
For nursing homes, we check each nurse’s NMC registration, the date revalidation is due and any conditions.

Care services in Sheffield
Sheffield City Council and NHS South Yorkshire Integrated Care Board work together at a Sheffield place level, using joint funding agreements such as the Better Care Fund, according to the CQC’s assessment of the council published in January 2026.
The same assessment described place-based home care contracts that reduced travel time for staff, and a Care Sector Workforce Strategy for 2023 to 2026. It recorded 7 embargoes in the 12 months to March 2025, all relating to nursing home provision, and a vacancy rate for adult social care jobs of 5.57 per cent, better than the England average of 8.06 per cent.
Sheffield Teaching Hospitals runs five hospitals and employs 18,500 people. Supertram, which is publicly owned and publicly operated, serves 51 stops across Sheffield and Rotherham.
Between June and August 2025, people in Sheffield waited a median of 3 days from referral to the start of home care, 1 day for residential care, 6 days for nursing care and 34 days for supported living, according to figures the council gave the CQC. Its new care and wellbeing homecare model drew interest from both existing and new providers.
Partners told the CQC how much they valued regular provider meetings and the council’s training Care Academy for recruitment and retention, and students on speech and language therapy, paramedic and nursing courses take placements in care homes and home care.

Questions from managers in Sheffield
Can you cover home care runs on Sheffield’s place-based contracts?
Yes. Send us the area and the call times. Place-based runs keep travel short, and we look for workers who live in or near the patch.
Can you help with nurses for a Sheffield nursing home?
Yes, for temporary cover and permanent posts, with every nurse’s NMC registration checked before they are offered.
Where are the gaps in Sheffield’s care market?
In the council’s 2025 figures, supported living took longest to arrange, with a median of 34 days, and every embargo in the year to March 2025 related to nursing homes. If your service is in either area, tell us early and we will start with experienced support workers or nurses.
